  I’m probably in the minority, but I preferred these to today’s pads because it allowed you to switch between moving the cursor and typing without lifting and moving your entire hand down to a completely different place and then back again. Some of the really early ones were brutal on your finger though lol, and they were definitely not “better” across the board.

  With a macbook with touchbar, by default there are two buttons (left arrow and right arrow) on the touchbar that navigates recent cursor positions, which is suprising but handy...
